Meet The Vice President

David Spude

I am a native Arizonan.  Born in Sunnyslope, Arizona in 1956.  My family started camping on Oak Creek in 1962 when I was six.  My parents found out at this early age that all they had to do is give me a fishing pole and a can of corn and they had the perfect baby sitter, (with the only problem being that they had to come and get me to go home).   In 1967 my family moved to Rainbow Trailer Park in Oak Creek Canyon on Oak Creek (where I became a fish) my closest friends and family called me Mr. Limpet.  In 1970 I graduated from Sedona Elementary (thirteen kids in the eight grade and the only school in Sedona at that time) and received a fly rod and reel for a graduation present.  As a curious child I learned on my own about the biology of Oak Creek.  I may not be able to give you the Latin names of the insects on Oak Creek, but I can find them and show you how to find them and adjust your flies to the insects on and in the water.  I am the Premier guide on Oak Creek and I am highly experienced with spring creek fishing in tight brush and high sticking pocket water.  I have also fished a lot of other water in Arizona and have fly fished for just about every species of fish that we have in Arizona (including Cat Fish on the fly. (No they do not rise to dries)
