Glendale Police Departments Youth Fishing Tournament
Today’s youth are often confronted with difficult choices that can have devastating effects on their lives if the wrong decision is made. In modern society, it is easy to loose a child to pressures, such as alcohol and drug abuse, violence, and a life of crime. As caring parents, we must communicate, educate, and stimulate them, in order to install values that will keep them on the straightened arrow. It has always been my belief that introducing children to a variety of activities, such as sports and the outdoors, will allow them to develop interests in activities that will help to keep their minds off of the dangerous alternatives. One of my favorite organizations doing its part in providing positive experiences for our children, is the Glendale Police Department.
The Glendale Police Department will be hosting their 3rd Annual Youth Bass Fishing Tournament, April 20th, at the Lake Pleasant Marina. Children 14 and under will be divided into two divisions, 12-14 and 11 and under. Participants who do not have family or friends with access to a boat will be placed in the boat of an experienced angler. Volunteer boaters will be needed as this tournament continues to draw more participants each year All entrants, and volunteers, will be fed before and after the tournament and will receive door prizes, a free shirt, and a good time. Anyone wishing to participate, or donate door prize items for this event, can contact Rich Stringer at (623) 495-7572 for a registration form, or you can download one from the tournament calendar at www.azod.com.
