Glendale D.A.R.E. Second Annual Tournament Results
The Second Annual Glendale D.A.R.E. youth fishing tournament was held April 21st and the turnout tripled from that of last years. I attended both events put on by Rich Stringer and Co. at the Glendale Police Department, and feel this is the type of event we need more of. The one hundred plus kids that attended the tournament were treated to a day of fun, fishing, and friendship.
In the 7-11 year old division, Michael Barrons took top honors with a weight of 5.12 lbs. Jacob Ortiz was a close second, while Garrett Simpson finished third. In the 11-14 year olds, Nathan Burns was the victor with 6.57, followed by Dave Adams (2nd) and Robbie Gannon (3rd). Burns also caught the “Big Fish” of the day, which was a 4.12 lb. bass. All the other participants left with shirts, prizes, smiles, and memories.
Glendale D.A.R.E. will undoubtedly be hosting their third tournament next year. This is one I recommend you attend. Whether or not you have a child to enter or time to volunteer as a boater, this is a way you can make a difference in a childs life. Get them hooked on fishing.
